The Diesel Tech Tooling Dual-Application Camshaft Timing Tool delivers precise, repeatable camshaft timing for Detroit Diesel DD13, DD15, and DD16 engines by combining pre-2016 and post-2016 timing requirements into one billet-machined plate. Replacing multiple OEM tools, it eliminates incorrect TDC readings, speeds up diagnostics, and ensures accurate engine assembly.
Compatible with Mercedes-Benz OM470–OM473 platforms, this durable, technician-designed tool saves time, reduces errors, and upgrades workflow for any diesel repair shop or fleet maintenance team.
Post 2016 Detroit DD Series
The first side of this tool is engineered to replace the updated W470589062300 Camshaft Timing Tool, which is required for the newer Detroit Diesel engine design. This application is mandatory for post-2016 Detroit Diesel DD-Series engines (DD11, DD13, DD15, DD16)—specifically those built on or after March 23, 2016. It is the ideal solution for servicing GHG17-generation and newer engines featuring the revised camshaft and gear train configuration. This side of the tool provides the precise TDC alignment required for accurate camshaft timing on late-model DD15 engines.

Pre 2016 Detroit DD Series
The second side of this tool is designed to replace the W470589104000 and W470589114000 OEM timing plates used on earlier Detroit Diesel engines. This application is required for pre-2016 DD-Series platforms (EPA07/EPA10), including DD11, DD13, DD15, and DD16 engines built before March 23, 2016. It provides precise, repeatable TDC alignment for engines equipped with the original camshaft and gear train configuration. This side delivers the accuracy technicians need for proper camshaft timing during service, overhaul, or engine assembly on all early-generation DD engines.
One tool. Two generations. Perfect Detroit DD timing every time.
